Case 09 · What the name means

Know what your name means to people who never contact you.

Most opinion about a brand is formed and expressed somewhere you were not invited. This is the part of it that is public.

You hire him. He reads the public internet. You keep the judgement.

Acme used to be the simple option. Feels like it is turning into everything it replaced.

Most of this never enters a dashboard.

Brand tracking usually arrives as a quarterly survey: expensive, lagging, and answered by people who agreed to be surveyed. Meanwhile the same questions are answered for free every day, unprompted, by people who have no idea you are listening.

Most opinion about a brand is formed where you were not invited.

  2. 02

Matching is literal, so the misspelling belongs in the monitor.

  3. 03

Sentiment only means something beside a competitor.

Ways to turn mentions into work.

  • Watch the misspellings too

Matching is literal, so the spaced form, the domain and the handle all belong in the monitor. Most mentions never link to you.

  • Track sentiment against something

A sentiment number alone means nothing. Run a competitor monitor beside your own and the comparison becomes readable.

    Stack Weekly·YouTube2h

Acme is still the default recommendation in this category and honestly nothing has come close.

  • Catch the drift early

Relevance rate tells you when your name has started colliding with something else — a film, a person, another company.

Acme used to mean simple. Now it means “the one that replaced the last simple one.”

Order and method

Track the keyword.Act on the signal.

  1. Drop the name — and the near-misses.

The spaced form, the domain, the handle. Most mentions never link to you.

  4. Read it beside a rival.

A number alone is theatre. A comparison is a brief.

A letter of retainer

How Buaro keeps this brief

“I do not interview a sample. I read the people who were moved to speak. Both are biased. Together they are useful.”
— M. Buaro, Consulting listener
  • Watch the name, the misspellings and the handle.
  • Keep a competitor file beside yours so the numbers have a neighbour.
  • Tell you when the name has started to mean something else.

Questions about brand monitoring.

01Is this a replacement for brand tracking surveys?

No, and anyone selling it as one is overreaching. A survey reaches a representative sample; this reaches people motivated enough to post. Both are biased, differently — read them together.

02How far back can I see?

A new monitor backfills roughly the last day and then keeps up. It builds history from the moment you start, so the useful comparison begins a month in.

03What does HerculeRadar monitor?

Public mentions across X, Reddit, YouTube, LinkedIn and Threads for the keywords you put in a monitor: product, brand, competitors, founder name, feature names, or the phrases your customers actually use. Active monitors are swept every four hours.

04Do people need to tag my account?

No. Matching is on the keywords you track, so a conversation can mention the product without ever tagging you.

05What counts as a mention?

A public post, reply, thread or comment that matches a tracked keyword or alias. Duplicates are collapsed so you are not reviewing the same signal twice.

06How do alerts work?

Email, Telegram or a signed webhook when a mention matches a rule you set — category, urgency, source. Nothing is auto-replied.

07Can an AI agent watch this for me?

Yes. MCP and the API are on every plan, including the trial. A webhook can fire on mention.created; the agent reads the rest through MCP with the same permissions as the dashboard.
