Hacker News
The thread where founders actually decide.
Stories and comments on Hacker News, through Algolia’s public index — the same cell F5Bot emails you about, filed instead of dumped in a mailbox.

Ask HN: what are you using instead of Brandwatch for social listening that is not $80k?
Feature request
How we read it
The mechanism, stated plainly.
Each sweep searches Algolia for your keywords (and watched usernames). Hits are stories or comments newer than the watermark. There is no scrape of news.ycombinator.com.
Coverage
What is collected — and what is not.
- Story titles and text
- Comments
- Author and points
- A stable item link
- Deleted or [flagged] items disappear from the index.
- This is not a firehose of every new story. It is keyword search.
Plans
Ten free mentions. Then a ceiling, not a surprise.
Your first 10 mentions are free. You pay for monitors, not a pile of keywords. Hit the cap and collection pauses — it never bills overage.

FAQ
Source-specific questions.
- Is this the same as F5Bot?
- Same network. We file and classify; F5Bot emails every match. If your keyword is rare, F5Bot is enough and free.
